What did we do before violin MP3s?  And what are you listening to?

If you a passionate violin or fiddle player, listen to as much as you can and it will improve your playing.  It's like learning a language.  The more you hear the more it will come out in your playing.  Expand your horizons by listening to something new!  And keep yourself and your playing fresh an exhilirating by cutting edge contempory players.  Its all out there!

 Any style you could name is now available through mp3s.  You    name it.  Jazz, blues, classical, traditional folk and  world music.  

 Treat yourself to a decent mp3 player and take it  everywhere you go loaded up with your favourite mp3 playlists.

 Of course there is the awesome iPod touch - the latest  killer mp3 player from apple.  But there are some great budget  devices out there too.  

 What about this little wonder from  Sandisk?  I think this is sweet! -  because you can use a  memory card to expand it....  So this can match the ipod touch in memory in a tiny little device that is great for running or biking with.   Cheap too so seriously worth considering! If you just like listening that's cool and there are a few ideas here for you too. 

But don't restirct your violin mp3 thinking to downloading! 

We highly recommend recording with a mp3/wav recorder such as the Zoom H2 Stereo Recorder .  If you go to live sessions, quickly record the tunes and you can take them home to learn.  There is great free software out there that means you can slow the speed to pick them up.  As easy as that! 

You can also record yourself!   A whole new world of musical adventures!  There is nothing so powerful as recording your own playing to tell you where you are going wrong and what others hear!  And once it is in digital format you can downlad it to your computer and do all sort of cool stuff.

Once you have got yourself to good standard, why not put yourself up on Myspace and become a violin star perhaps?
